Our New Addition

Today the new edition to our family arrived.  We were so excited and I actually wasn't freaking out at the money we spent for it either; because even I, who knows nothing about musical instruments, knows we got a great deal.  The girls were jumping up and down and running around the whole house in excitement that it was arriving and then when the movers knocked on the door I thought we were all going to start cheering(the girls did a little).  Within 15 minutes they unloaded it off the truck and brought it in set it up and there it was!

Our beautiful new (to us) piano!  I am so excited for the girls and possibly myself to learn how to play.  My first instrument and I know that it will be put to good use.  We are now the 3rd owner of this beautiful piano and hoping to keep a long time family tradition of everyone in the family playing an instrument.  I pray that my kids will be wonderful musicians someday and do even more then their daddy.  I wonder if that is in God's plan for their lives but hey we can make our plans and then let Him direct their steps!  Prov 16:9

But there is one downside to it.  How do I decorate now?  I had this whole image for our home and I was really working toward it and now I have this LARGE piano to try and decorate around.  I need to get started figuring out what I am going to do now.  Any suggestions?  And no that isn't a pic of my house I'll have to post one later.

gazing some more

Check out some of the new sites I have been gazing at for home beautification.  Meet me in Philadelphia is super fun!!

Gazing

I love this word.  I love what it means, and how it sounds.  There are so many beautiful things to gaze at in this world but the best to me is to gaze at my children.  Watching them as they learn something new, sleep with such peace, play with one another and sing in the car.  Every bit of it is so beautiful.  But, as beautiful as that is, I know that looking to God and His goodness, greatness, and glory are truly worthy of gazing at.

Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye. Prov 7:2

God says in His word that we are to keep His law (His WORD) as the apple of our eyes.  I think of that as gazing at His word and truths and then living by them.

When things get tough: people don't act they way I think they should, my kids or husband don't live up to my expectations, my life is turned upside down by something unexpected, ...fill in the blank; I need to keep my eye on Him and his law as if it was the only true thing.

Today I want to gaze a little more at God's word and His truths for my life and live by them.

new endeavors

So I have been collecting furniture from thrift stores and front yards for as long as I can remember.  In fact I would say 3/4 of my house was free or VERY discounted.  But I come from the family that feels that everything should be redone in it's original wood color.  Well let me tell you, that has been a hard thought to break.  But after many discussions(with my mom, the ultimate in love of wood color) and many blog readings later I finally decided to take the plunge.

I found this coffee table at the Thrift Store by my house for $19.  I am so cheap I wanted to see if I could hold out until 1/2 off day but decided against it because I thought I'd probably never see it again.  I'm so glad I didn't either.

Originally I was going to make this our new coffee table for our living room but after bringing it into the house I realized it had to be for my kids play room.

Here's the final product.  It didn't cost me anything to paint because I used some paint I already had.  And now my girls love their new tea table.  They are having such a fun time with it.

I had a basket that fit perfectly under it.
I was so excited about how cute it came out I think I am going to go and paint something else.  Hum?  Maybe the hutch that I found in the trash?  Well see.
